THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO MOTORCYCLE TOURING IN TURKEY
Everything below comes from the tour itself: our 10-day loop out of Antalya, the day-by-day itinerary further up this page, and what the riders who rode it with us in August 2025 said on camera when they handed the keys back. If you are weighing up Turkey as your next motorcycle destination, this is the long answer — how the riding actually feels, what you will see between the salt lake at Aksaray and the beachfront at Mersin, and the practical details of bikes, upgrades and payment.
WHY RIDE TURKEY BY MOTORCYCLE?
Our Turkey Motorcycle Adventure is an extraordinary journey through Turkey's rich history and remarkable landscapes. The tour showcases UNESCO World Heritage Sites with beautifully preserved ruins and the unique rock formations of Cappadocia, and you get the rare chance to explore historic caves and underground cities, once used as safe havens in ancient times. Winding through scenic roads with thrilling curves and light off-road sections, each day reveals new layers of Turkey's storied past and breathtaking beauty — and optional experiences like a hot air balloon ride over Cappadocia add even more wonder to what is, at heart, a culturally immersive adventure.
The route makes a clean loop: we gather in Antalya, ride north to lakeside Eğirdir, cross scenic village roads to Konya, take on the otherworldly salt lake on the way to Aksaray, roll into Cappadocia for two nights including a full rest day, then swing south through the Çiftehan Thermal Zone to Mersin on the coast, and finish with a long, mesmerizing coastal road back to Antalya. Ten days, one country, and terrain that runs from salt lakes to coastal routes, offering stunning vistas and thrilling adventures.
Do not take our word for how that variety lands. Lillie from the UK, who rode with us in August 2025 and had previously ridden in Morocco and a lot in Europe, opened her testimonial with this: "It was absolutely incredible and seeing some things on this trip that will last me for a lifetime." Kevin from Australia, on the same departure, closed his with "See you next time, probably in Colombia." When a rider ends a Turkey tour by booking the next continent in his head, the destination has done its job.
HOW HARD IS THE RIDING? 35% OFF-ROAD, 85% COMFORT, 100% FUN
We publish a terrain profile for every tour so you can match the route to your skills before you book. Turkey rates 35% off-road, 85% comfort and 100% fun — noticeably more dirt than road-focused tours like Greece, Thailand and Oman, which stay around 95% on pavement, but still a long way from a Namibia-style enduro test. The off-road here means navigating mountain terrains on gravel and dirt tracks and mountainous roads — an exhilarating journey that our point-of-interest notes describe as ideal for seasoned riders — and it is introduced progressively across the week.
Here is how the itinerary paces it. Day 2 begins with a gentle off-road adventure before conquering curvy village roads to Eğirdir Lake. Day 4 is easy off-roading across the salt lake on the way to Aksaray. Day 7 is the big one: 305 km from Cappadocia to the Çiftehan Thermal Zone, with a stop at one of Turkey's famous waterfalls before thrilling off-roading over mountainous terrains. In between, the pavement carries its own reward — day 5 serenades through valleys on heavenly curvy pavements into Cappadocia, and day 9 is a 400 km coastal road trip from Mersin back to Antalya, the longest riding day of the tour. Add up the published day distances and the seven riding days come to 1,915 km.
The riders' verdicts match the profile. Lillie: "the off-road tracks were amazing. The paved roads, there was so many like fast flowing twisties, hair pins everywhere again with amazing views. And the bikes were awesome that we were on." Kevin kept his scorecard shorter: "Great bikes, no breakdowns, great roads, twisty roads, and great accommodation." That "no breakdowns" is not luck — a professional MotoDreamer tour leader rides with the group, an expert local guide travels alongside with a support vehicle and a back-up bike, and fuel is covered for the whole route. The 85% comfort score is doing its job the rest of the day too: nine nights of top accommodation, from a lakeside hotel at Eğirdir to a boutique hotel in Cappadocia and a beachfront campsite with a BBQ feast at Mersin.
WHAT ARE THE CULTURE & STOPS ALONG THE TURKEY MOTORCYCLE ROUTE?
Turkey rewards riders who get off the bike, and the itinerary builds that in. These are the anchors of the tour, day by day:
- Antalya (days 1, 9 and 10). The tour opens with a welcome briefing at the opulent Antalya hotel, unveiling the journey ahead — and closes with a grand farewell dinner when the coastal road delivers the group back on day 9, before departures on day 10.
- Eğirdir Lake (day 2). The first night out is a luxurious lakeside stay after 250 km of gentle off-road and curvy village roads.
- Konya (day 3). A 240 km traverse of scenic village roads with panoramic views, soaking in picturesque landscapes, ending in Konya's top-tier accommodation.
- The salt lake, Aksaray (day 4). The otherworldly salt lake is one of the images our riders keep coming back to — "riding on the salt lake" is the first thing Lillie lists among the sights that will last her a lifetime. Easy off-roading, then a luxurious hotel sanctuary in Aksaray.
- Cappadocia (days 5 and 6). The cultural heart of the tour: unique rock formations, ancient underground caves and cities, and a full rest day with optional activities — a hot air balloon tour (if skies permit), a chance to roam free, or a night in Cappadocia's glamping haven. Village visits and unique accommodations like the glamping option are how this tour delivers an authentic experience of Turkish culture rather than a drive-past.
- Turkey's famous waterfalls (day 7). The ride from Cappadocia stops to marvel at one of Turkey's famous waterfalls before the off-road mountain crossing to the Çiftehan Thermal Zone.
- Mersin beachfront (day 8). Charming village roads end at a beachfront campsite with a BBQ feast — the one night under canvas on the tour, and a deliberate change of rhythm before the final coastal run.
Group activities and entry fees are included in the tour price, so there is no ticket-counter arithmetic along the way. The one exception is clearly flagged: the optional hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia is a paid extra, and it flies only if the skies permit.
PRACTICAL ANSWERS: BIKES, UPGRADES & BOOKING
The motorcycles. The base bike is the CFMOTO 450 MT, included in the tour price — the fleet Lillie called "awesome" and Kevin credited with "no breakdowns". If you prefer more machine, three upgrades are available: the KTM 790 Adventure R for +$499, the Ducati Desert X for +$699, or the Ducati V4 Rally for +$899. All our bikes are latest-model, professionally maintained machines, and both a motorcycle damage and theft liability reduction insurance and the mandatory third-party liability insurance are already included. A refundable security deposit on your credit card is required to take the bike out, sized according to the rental bike you choose.
Riding two-up or sleeping alone. The Add Passenger/Pillion option (+$2,999) covers your co-rider. Accommodation is in shared rooms by default, with a single-room upgrade available for +$799.
What the price covers. The tour starts at $5,499 per rider on the CFMOTO 450 MT in a shared room. That includes the 9 nights of top accommodation, all breakfasts, the base motorcycle rental, fuel, both insurances, group activities and entry fees, transfers to and from Antalya International Airport (AYT) on official arrival and departure days, a pre-tour preparation guide and briefing, a MotoDreamer appeal gift, and all taxes. Not included: airfare, upgrades, the optional hot air balloon ride, lunches, dinners and drinks, personal paperwork, permits and visas, tips to staff, and travel and evacuation insurance with cancellation coverage — for that we point riders to Global Rescue.
Booking and payment. Hit Book Now, pick your date and pay the deposit; we accept bank transfer, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal and Bitcoin, and you can split the balance into monthly payments with no interest. Booking as a group is rewarded: when 5 riders pay, rider number 6 travels free, valid on the base tour price. Every booking is backed by our price match and departure guarantees. The next scheduled departure is April 30 to May 9, 2027, and private or customized group dates are available on request.
Who can join. You need to be 20 or older with at least one year of experience on a 500cc-or-bigger motorcycle, hold a valid driver's license with motorcycle endorsement, and carry a passport with at least six months' validity at tour start. Given the 35% off-road share, the booking form also asks about your adventure touring and off-road skills and your experience in tight mountain curves — our certified, multilingual tour leaders brief the group every morning and the crew supports you the whole way.
Seventeen-plus years of operating tours and more than 4,000 riders have shaped how we run Turkey. Or, in Lillie's closing words: "the whole experience has just been great from start to finish. And I'm really gutted that it's over."
WHAT RIDERS SAY
★★★★★ 5.0 · from 2 rider reviews (transcribed from the video testimonials above)
★ 5.0 on TripAdvisor (27 reviews) · ★ 4.6 on Google (62 reviews)
The Turkey tour currently holds a 5.0 rating from 2 rider reviews, both transcribed from video interviews filmed at the end of the August 2025 departure — you can watch them all here. Beyond the short review cards, one passage is worth reading in full, because it describes the experience better than we can.
What makes Lillie's five stars worth weighing is the benchmark behind them — this was her first time in Turkey, but not her first adventure destination:
"I didn't know what I expected to be honest. … I've never been to Turkey before. Been to ridden in places like Morocco, ridden a lot in Europe. … but the off-road tracks were amazing." Lillie · UK · transcribed from her video testimonial, August 2025

Kevin from Australia was interviewed straight off the bike — his first words were "Been very warm on the bikes today" — before delivering the summary you can read in his review card above.
Two riders, two continents of origin, and the same three ingredients named unprompted: the roads, the bikes, the views. That is the tour working as designed.
